The apparatus has a transport path (9), binding stations (1.1-1.3) of which the lower number is active, and a working conveyor (8). A controller controls the conveyor to transport the documents to selected binding station which carry out the binding process. A controllable transfer unit (3) is arranged at the upstream of a distributor (2). The controller sets the transfer unit to operating mode, based on the number and position of active binding stations and predetermined constant operation of the distributor. |
