The driving assistance system (10) has a transmitting device (20) for emitting electromagnetic signals and a receiving device (30) for receiving electromagnetic signals. The transmission device has a kidney-shaped monitoring area (40) with a first monitoring unit (42) and with a second monitoring unit (44). The former monitoring unit and latter monitoring unit surround monitoring angle in an area between 30 degree and 150 degree. An independent claim is included for a motor vehicle, which has driving assistance system arranged in front corner of motor vehicle.
