Described is a method for preparing a liquid formulation of the non-erythrocyte fraction of blood cells from a blood sample. The sample is contacted with a macromolecular erythrocyte sedimentation enhancer, and the resulting mixture is centrifuged to partition the mixture into a sedimented and non-sedimented phase. The non-erythrocyte fraction is then recovered. The sedimentation enhancer can be a dextran or hydroxyethyl starch. Also described are methods of cryopreservation of the recovered sample by addition of a cryoprotectant prior to freezing. |
