The present invention relates to an electrical connector assembly (100) comprising a connector housing (101), a mate assist lever (300) associated therewith and a secondary locking device (200) for locking the mate assist lever. Thereby, the mate assist lever (300) is movable between a first position and a second position, and the secondary locking device (200) is movable between an open position and a closed position. The electrical connector assembly (100) further comprises at least one latch member (110) which is assigned to the connector housing (101) and which is provided with a stop surface (111) adapted to engage a latching edge (301) of the mate assist lever (300) when the mate assist lever (300) is placed in the second position to thereby block the mate assist lever (300) in the second position. The secondary locking device (200) comprises a safety portion (201) adapted to cover the latch member (110) when the secondary locking device is placed in the closed position such that the latch member (110) is no longer accessible. |
