A display panel comprises a display area, a non-display area other than the display area, a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer provided on the first substrate and the second substrate. The first substrate includes a recessed portion recessed from an extended surface of a common electrode, and a first alignment film barrier protruded from the recessed portion in a region corresponding to at least a part of the edge of the first alignment film.
