A storage box for accommodating sheet medium comprises a box (1) having an opening, and further comprises a pressing plate (5) located inside the box and a self-propelled mechanism (6) used to drive the pressing plate to move towards the opening. The self-propelled mechanism (6) comprises a support frame (4) connected to the pressing plate (5), a drive shaft (61) disposed on the support frame (4) and driven by an elastic energy storage element (62), running gears (63) moving synchronously at both sides of the support frame (4), and guide gear racks (64) matching the running gears and extending along a stacking direction of the sheet medium. The running gears (63) are driven by the drive shaft (61). The running gears (63) moving synchronously at both sides of the pressing plate (5) cooperate with the guide gear racks (64), so as to guide the movement of the pressing plate (5), thereby ensuring smooth movement of the pressing plate (5), avoiding inclination, and improving movement reliability of the pressing plate (5).
