METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SETTING VIRTUAL KEYBOARD

A method of setting a virtual keyboard on an electronic device with a touchscreen. The method comprises: detecting a dragging operation on a touch screen, and performing settings of movement, position-switching, addition or deletion on the virtual keyboard according to a start point position and an end point position of the dragging operation; and providing an alternative key area and an extended key area, and setting a primary screen printing character or a secondary screen printing character of a virtual key between a keyboard area, the alternative key area and the extended key area according to the start point position and the end point position of the dragging operation.
