A portable radio receiver of a size capable of being held in the hand of a user comprises a chassis positioned within a casing 1 with two shafts arranged coaxially on opposite sides of the chassis and operatively connected one to a variable capacitor and the other to a variable resistor, the shafts carrying knobs 5 and 6 whose peripheries project through apertures in the casing 1 in such a position as to permit adjustment thereof by the thumb of a user while he is holding the casing. The knob 5 is mounted directly upon the shaft of the variable volume-control resistor but the shaft upon which the knob 6 is mounted is connected to the shaft of the variable tuning capacitor through a belt-andpulley system, Fig. 2 (not shown). |
