This bias-voltage generation device is provided to the exterior of, and used in conjunction with, an ultrasound observation device which, in order to use a capacitance transducer to transmit and receive ultrasound signals to and from a subject, is equipped with a transmission circuit for generating transmission signals and a reception circuit for processing received signals. The bias-voltage generation device is provided with: a bias-voltage power supply circuit which is provided with a chargeable secondary battery for generating a bias voltage to be applied to the capacitance transducer, and which generates the bias voltage; and a bias-voltage superposition unit for superposing the bias voltage onto transmission signals outputted to the exterior of the ultrasound observation device, and reception signals inputted to the interior of the ultrasound observation device. |
