PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high frequency coil unit and a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus that enable reception of magnetic resonance signals from a required area with more preferable sensitivity without applying a large load to a subject.SOLUTION: A high frequency coil unit has a support part 2 for setting a subject in a bed and a plurality of coil elements. The plurality of coil elements are provided in the support part 2 and placed in different positions at least in a vertical direction. A magnetic resonance imaging device also has the high frequency coil unit and an imaging system. The imaging system conducts magnetic resonance imaging of a subject using the high frequency coil unit.
