The seat (10) has a seat device (12) comprising a seat unit (14) and a base unit (16), which is arranged at a side of the seat unit in a transverse direction (20), where the transverse direction is vertically aligned to a seat unit longitudinal direction (18). The base part comprises a base unit portion (22) in seat positions. The base unit portion rearwardly protrudes the seat unit with respect to the seat unit longitudinal direction. The seat unit comprises a lower leg support unit (38) and a seat bottom unit (26). The base unit is designed as a side piece of furniture of the seat unit. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle seat system.
