PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder which can continue the recording of images without a special mechanism such as a stacker arranged in the image recorder, and to provide a control method of the image recorder. SOLUTION: An output of a storage amount detecting part 9d is brought into an on-state when an amount of a recording medium 13 in a storage tray 9a is not smaller than a fixed value. In response to this, a recording medium conveyance control part 12 changes a feed interval for a feeding part 2 to feed to a conveying mechanism 3 from a short interval TN to a long interval TW. The output of the storage amount detecting part 9d is brought into an off-state when an operator removes the recording medium 13 in the storage tray 9a, and the recording medium conveyance control part 12 returns the feed interval to the short interval TN in response to this.
