In the present invention, there is disclosed a method of drying surfactants in an aqueous solution by making use of microwave energy, wherein the method is characterized in that an aqueous solution containing 40 to 80 percent by weight of surfactants is subjected, for the purpose of suppression of foaming power occurred during the drying process, to interrupted microwave pulses with the duration in the range of 1 to 100 seconds. The drying process is carried out at a microwave output in the range of 0.05 to 0.50 kWh/kg of the staring material and at a frequency in the range of 800 to 2500 MHz.
