发明名称 Resuscitation apparatus
摘要 <p>899,137. Artificial respiration apparatus. CROSS, A. S. Oct. 14, 1958 [Oct. 16, 1957], No. 32765/58. Class 81 (2). A mouth-to-mouth resuscitator comprises a conduit 14, its ends adapted to communicate respectively with the mouth of the operator and of the patient, by means of e.g. a mouthpiece 18 and an oral-nasal mask 16, for the passage of fluid from the operator to the patient and means for causing fluid discharged from the patient to vent through ports, such as 40, in the conduit without passing to the mouth of the operator. As shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the conduit 14 is divided into a fluid receiving chamber 36 and fluid discharge chamber 38 by valve means 30 comprising a piston 42 normally biased against a stationary sleeve 48 within the chamber 36, by a spring 50 anchored to the sleeve 48 by a pin 52, and having a central orifice 54 through which passes the stem 62 of a valve member 60. When the operator blows into the chamber 36, the increased pressure first moves the piston 42 along the conduit as far as a stop 44, thus closing the ports 40, and then opens the valve member 60 to allow air to pass to the chamber 38 and thence to the patient. As the pressure decreases, the valve closes and the piston is drawn back against the sleeve 48, exposing the ports 40. In a modified valve means, Fig. 8, an extension sleeve 66 of the piston 421 has formed therein intake slots 68 which in the normal sealing position of the piston co-operate with the slots 64 in the conduit to allow the operator to inhale fresh air with the apparatus in position. In a further embodiment (not shown), the valve comprises a resilient tube, the discharge end of which is normally contracted to a sealing position in which the discharge ports in the conduit are uncovered whilst on increase of pressure in the fluid receiving chamber, the tube expands, covering the ports and allowing fluid to pass to the patient. In a still further embodiment, Fig. 11, a valve head 84 mounted on a piston 90 is urged by a spring 88 anchored to a stop 46 into sealing engagement with a stationary sleeve 86, leaving ports 40<SP>11</SP> open. When the operator blows into the chamber 36, the valve head 84 slides out of the sleeve 86 and air passes round the head and through a plurality of ports 94 in the piston 90 to the chamber 38. The mouthpiece 18 may include a flange 80 in which perforations 82 are formed to allow the operator to inhale with the mouthpiece in position merely by separating his lips.</p>
