A password character input unit and a method are provided to ensure password by supplying the keypad character display window including the character corresponding to the identical sequence number of all buttons in OSD(On Screen Display) mode. A keypad including character allocated at each key button of the remote controller is indicated from user for the character input(S600). Using the key button signal received from the remote controller, the current state is the password input mode is discriminated(S603). The received key button signal as described above is indicated on the password input window by star mark(*)(S604). Each keypad character display window is indicated by the OSD(S605). Each keypad character display window includes the characters allocated to key button. |
