PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that reduces an error in the amount of toner consumed from a toner container even when a sensor is not arranged to the toner container.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a developer container 22 that accommodates a developer; developer supply means 51 for supplying a developer from the developer container to a developing unit 2; means for detecting the amount of the developer in the developing unit 52 for detecting the amount of the developer in the developing unit; consumption calculation means 39 for calculating the consumption amount of the developer in association with the development from image data to calculate a cumulative developer consumption amount obtained by accumulating the amounts of the developer; storage means 37 for storing the cumulative developer consumption amount; developer residual amount estimating means 551 for estimating an estimated residual amount of the developer in the developer container from the supply speed of the developer by the developer supply means; and consumption correcting means 55 for correcting the cumulative developer consumption amount stored in the storage means according to a difference between an estimated developer cumulative consumption amount obtained by subtracting the estimated residual amount of developer from an initial value and the cumulative developer consumption amount stored in the storage means.
