PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image projection device evaluation method capable of evaluating the degradation of picture quality by foreign matter sticking to the internal optical element of a projector, and by a ghost image of a flaw, etc.SOLUTION: An image projection device 1 is evaluated by executing: a first step of picking up the image of a projection plane before image projection by image pickup means 2; a second step of analyzing the picked-up image of the projection plane before projection to acquire a luminous energy distribution (first luminous energy distribution); a third step of projecting a test-purpose projection image by the image projection device 1; a fourth step of picking up a test image by the image pickup means; and a fifth step of analyzing the picked-up test image to acquire a luminous energy distribution (second luminous energy distribution) and analyzing a difference between the first luminous energy distribution and the second luminous energy distribution.
