PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing a Rumex aquaticus herba extract as an active ingredient is provided to prevent and treat acute colitis with minimized side effects. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating acute colitis contains 30-100 mg/kg of a Rumex aquaticus herba extract as an active ingredient. The extract is soluble and is prepared using water, C1-C4 alcohol, or a mixture thereof. The extract contains quercetin-3-beta-D-glucuronopyranoside compounds of chemical formula 1. |
