PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device excellent in display quality.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes: a pair of substrates 12 and 14 facing to each other; a liquid crystal layer LQ held between the pair of substrates 12 and 14; and a display area 11 including pixels PX arranged in a matrix. One of the pair of substrates 12 and 14 comprises: light shield means LS1 and BM arranged in an area surrounding the display area 11; and a second light shield part LS2 arranged between the light shield means LS1 and BM and the end of the one of substrates 12 and 14. In the second light shield part LS2, the vicinity of the light shield means LS1 and BM and the vicinity of the end of the one of substrates 12 and 14 are discontinuous. |
