PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating agent for an inorganic material capable of obtaining a film having high water resistance, having excellent cut-off performance, and sufficiently satisfying treatability and viscosity stability.SOLUTION: Provided is a coating agent for an inorganic material comprising a vinyl alcohol-based polymer including a monomer unit having a group represented by the following formula (1) and satisfying the following formula (I)(in the formula (1), Rdenotes a hydrogen atom or a 1 to 5C alkyl group; Rdenotes a group represented by an alkoxyl group, an acyloxyl group or OM; M denotes a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal or an ammonium group; Rand Rrespectively independently a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; m denotes an integer of 0 to 2; and n denotes an integer of 3 or higher). 370≤P×S≤6,000 (I) P: a viscosity average polymerization degree; and S: the content (mol%) of the monomer unit. |
