PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an electrochemical cell having a reaction constraint layer formed between an electrolyte membrane and an electrode, in which reaction between the electrolyte membrane and the reaction constraint layer is restrained, so that when the electrochemical cell is used as a solid electrolyte fuel cell (SOFC) or a solid electrolyte electrolytic cell (SOEC), characteristic degradation is restrained.SOLUTION: The electrochemical cell comprises: an electrolyte membrane having electrical insulation properties and exhibiting oxygen ion conductivity; a ceria-containing reaction constraint layer formed on one main surface side of the electrolyte membrane; an air electrode or an oxygen electrode formed on the main surface, facing the electrolyte membrane, of the reaction constraint layer; and a fuel electrode or an air electrode formed on the other main surface side of the electrolyte membrane. |
