<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus and method for implementing OAM functions at intermediate nodes in a PBT network.SOLUTION: OAM functions are implemented at an intermediate node on a PBT trunk in an Ethernet (R) network by causing OAM frames to be addressed to an endpoint A or D of a PBT trunk 106a or 106b but causing the OAM frames to contain an indicia that the OAM frames are intended to be used for OAM functions at an intermediate node B and/or C. The indicia that the OAM frames are intended to be used for OAM functions may be an Ether-type, OpCode, TLV value or combination of these and other fields, and the Ether-type, OpCode, and TLV values may be standardized values, or vendor specific values.</p> |
