The method involves detecting operating parameters or operating states of the energy store by sensors and determining a current relative capacity state (Q) of the energy store by operating parameters or operating conditions from a characteristic diagram assigned to the energy store. A current relative energy state of the energy store is determined by the capacity state from another characteristic diagram assigned to the energy store. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a system for monitoring an energy store, particularly a partially electrically driven motor vehicle; and (2) a motor vehicle with an electric drive.
