PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery having high capacity and excellent storage characteristics and cycle characteristics while sufficiently enhancing safety in overcharge.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte used for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery contains a phosphoric ester compound and/or a carboxylate ester compound having a phenyl group substituted with an alkyl group, and the number of carbon atoms of the alkyl group substituting the phenyl group is all 4 or more.
