<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a thin vehicular lighting unit provided with a toroidal lens.SOLUTION: A vehicular lighting unit has a configuration in which a toroidal lens 30 extending in an arcuate manner is installed to enclose a light source 20 from a front side. With this arrangement as above, emitted light from the light source 20 is emitted from a toroidal lens 30 as a diffusion light as it is within a horizontal plane where the toroidal lens 30 extends, whereas it is emitted from the toroidal lens 30 within a vertical plane as a parallel light to enable a light distribution pattern expanding like a band-shape in a horizontal direction to be formed. At this time, this toroidal lens 30 is formed so that a front surface 30Aa of a central portion 30A in the arcuate extending direction is displaced rearward with respect to an imaginary extending plane C1 of the front surfaces 30Ba of general portions 30B positioned at both sides. With this arrangement as above, a depth size of the toroidal lens is made small and a thin formation of the lighting unit is attained while an optical function of the toroidal lens 30 is being kept.</p> |
