The camera (10) has an evaluation unit (15) for determining a velocity (v) of a detected conveyed material (30). The evaluation unit is formed such that a surface feature of the conveyed material (30) is brought in captured depth images (B1, B2), where the velocity of the conveyed material is determined as a function of displacement of the surface feature of the conveyed material between the depth images. The evaluation unit is designed such that the velocity of conveyed material is determined from a combination of depth and two-dimensional images. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining the velocity of a conveyed material.
