<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing metallic iron, by heating an agglomerate containing an iron oxide-containing material and a carbonaceous material to manufacture a metallic iron-containing sintered body, pulverizing at least a part of the resulting metallic iron-containing sintered body, and removing slag to manufacture metallic iron, capable of enhancing slag removal rate from the metallic iron-containing sintered body even when using a low quality iron oxide-containing material having high gangue mineral content as the iron oxide-containing material.SOLUTION: A material having a percentage of the total mass of SiOand AlObased on the mass of total iron (T.Fe), [(SiO+AlO)/T.Fe×100)] of 5% or more is used as an iron oxide-containing material, and heating an agglomerate is conducted by second step heating at an inner furnace temperature of 1300°C or higher after first step heating at the inner furnace temperature of 1000 to 1280°C.</p> |
