PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely brake a sliding door by increasing frictional resistance force when the sliding door is closed, to make the sliding door lightly movable by reducing the frictional resistance force when the sliding door is opened, and also to reduce manufacturing costs with simple constitution.SOLUTION: A brake device includes: a brake body 2 which is fitted to an upper surface of a door end-side end part of a sliding door and has a movable brake plate 9; and a brake operation body 3 which is fitted to a front end part of an upper frame that an upper part of the sliding door engages, and has a slide body 17 sliding on a slide surface 9A of the movable brake plate 9 when the sliding door is closed. The movable brake plate 9 is guided by a base body 4 of the brake body 2 to be movable in an oblique direction in plan view to a front-rear direction, and held while elastically supported in the oblique direction by elastic support means K and 11A, 11B, the oblique direction being determined such that when the slide body 17 slides on the movable brake plate 9 during closing of the sliding door, the movable brake plate 9 approaches the slide body 17 with slide frictional force acting at the time. |
