908,678. Inking-apparatus. AGFA A.G. Dec. 2, 1960 [Dec. 10, 1959], No. 41612/60. Class 100 (2). An ink reservoir roller for an offset printing- machine comprises end pieces 1, 2, Fig. 1, and a cylindrical jacket 3, Figs. 1 and 2, having uniformly distributed perforations 11 and surrounded by an elastic synthetic plastic sheath 12 having more closely spaced pores 13 produced by compression from outside so as to have internal annular rim flanges 13a which cause the body of the sheath to stand away from the jacket and leave an annular space 14. Rotation of the roller in contact with a transfer roller causes alternate compression and expansion, so that ink passes into the space 14 and thence under the flanges and through the pores 13. The elements 1, 2 and the jacket 3 may be of polyvinyl chloride. Ink is introduced through passages 9, 8, 6, 7 on removing a cap 10, or through a passage 8a in the end pin 2a. The sheath may be of polypropylene or polycarbonate. |
