A computer and a portable electronic device for transmitting an image file and a method thereof are provided to convert resolution of the image file or a moving picture according to remaining capacity of a storage memory and resolution of the portable electronic device and transmit the image file or the moving picture to the portable electronic device or reproduce the image file or the moving picture at the converted resolution, thereby preventing overload of the portable electronic device due to transmission and reproduction of an unnecessary file of big capacity. A screen resolution sensing unit(110) senses resolution of a portable electronic device. A controller(120) determines whether the resolution of an image file to be transmitted to the portable electronic device is converted. According to a control signal of the controller, a resolution converting unit(130) converts resolution of the image file. A transmitting unit(140) transmits the image file. |
