PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone capable of correctly announcing a user that, in the case of temporary interruption, abnormal noise or a pause in line exchange communication, the factor is due to the deterioration of a radio environment. SOLUTION: A CPU detects the existence of an interruption in received user data D1 and also modulates baseband check data D3a into post-modulation baseband check data D2. A baseband LSI 12 demodulates the received user data D1 and the post-modulation baseband check data D2, and demodulates the first baseband check data D2 into post-demodulation baseband check data D3b. The CPU compares the post-demodulation baseband check data D3b with the pre-modulation baseband check data D3a. When the interruption of the received user data is detected, the CPU announces information of the interruption in line exchange communication, which is caused by the deterioration of a radio environment, when the both kinds of data match in the comparison result.
