The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus which updates a boot image to accelerate the booting process. The image forming apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: an interface unit which receives a new version of firmware; a non-volatile memory storing a first boot image; and a processor which replaces the first boot image with a second boot image when the new version of the firmware received to the interface unit includes the second boot image to update the boot image.
