Kinetic energy storage device

The kinetic energy storage apparatus (1) has an electrical machine (8) which is operated as a motor or generator. An energy recovery system is provided for the intermediate storage of produced kinetic energy and for converting the kinetic energy into an electrical energy. The energy recovery system has a flywheel (5) formed as a rotor, and a stator arranged in apparatus housing (2). One of the rotor and the stator is formed as a vacuum pump stage. The flywheel is secured on a hub (4) which is arranged on rotor shaft (3).
