A mobile robot and a method for detecting a position thereof are disclosed. An embodiment of the present invention can precisely detect a position if there is no sensor or sensors are insufficient by using moving sensors which are movable by being mounted on the body or being separated from the body. An embodiment of the present invention detects the position of the mobile robot itself through communication between a robot body and self-control movement sensors, for example, movable beacons so that it is possible to improve precision of position detection if surrounding information is insufficient or not available or other sensors are insufficient or not available. Therefore, an embodiment of the present can stably perform route search, mapping, etc. |
