917,834. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. METALLSCHLAUCH - FABRIK PFORZHEIM. May 19, 1960 [June 10, 1959], No. 17653/60. Class 42 (1). [Also in Groups XXII and XXVIII] Corrugated tubes of metallic or non-metallic material, e.g. plastic, are made by overlapping the edges of a flat strip of the material to form a tube with a slit extending parallel with the tube axis and coating adhesive on at least one edge, the adhesive partly hardened holds the tube together while corrugations are provided by a conventional tool and then the adhesive hardens further. The adhesive may be epoxide or polyacryl resins, polyamides, polybutadienes, i.e. such as have high adhesion and little shear resistance when partly set, so allowing shear movement of joined members, and set afterwards without loss of adhesion. The adhesive may be introduced between the surfaces to be joined on a strip of the same material as the tube or on a strip of the hardening agent of the adhesive. The join may be aided by a groove in one of its members and the seam may be flanged.
|
