Provided are a method for providing information and an electronic apparatus applied to the same. When a video call is performed, the electronic apparatus according to the method for providing information: recognizes a user performing the video call; obtains at least one piece of information on a user interest based on the information on social network service usage of the recognized user; and displays the obtained information on the user interest with a video call screen. As a result, a video call with a new environment where conversation materials are not depleted can be provided for a user.
