An image display device comprises: a display panel including a first substrate and a second substrate, a left eye horizontal pixel line which is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and displays a left eye image, a right eye horizontal pixel line which displays a right eye image, and a black matrix which is disposed between the left eye horizontal pixel line and the right eye horizontal pixel line; a circular polarizing plate on the upper part of the second substrate; and a patterned retarder which is disposed on the upper part of the circular polarizing plate and includes a left eye retarder corresponding to the left eye horizontal pixel line and a right eye retarder corresponding to the right eye horizontal pixel line, wherein a retardation value of one of the left eye retarder and the right eye retarder isλ/ 2 and the retardation value of the remaining one is zero.
