PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of increasing a surface pressure at a secondary transfer nip part in order to suppress the occurrence of roughness on a transfer material having conspicuous irregularity such as leather-like paper, and reducing an urging force while increasing the surface pressure at the secondary transfer nip part.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus M1 includes an intermediate transfer belt 51, a secondary transfer member 56 that comes into contact with the intermediate transfer belt 51 with a transfer material P therebetween to transfer a toner image onto the transfer material P, and a secondary transfer opposing member 53 that is disposed inside the intermediate transfer belt 51 to be opposite to the secondary transfer member 56. The intermediate transfer belt 51 is an elastic intermediate transfer belt having an elastic layer 51b; and the MD-1 hardness of the elastic layer 51b is set lower than the MD-1 hardness of both of the secondary transfer member 56 and the secondary transfer opposing member 53. |
