The present invention relates to a method for evaluating the drug activity of medicines that have a therapeutic or preventive effect on diseases to which EL activity relates, wherein the concentration of phosphatidylinositol or lysophosphatidylinositol is used as an index. The invention further relates to a method for screening for EL activity inhibitory substances which comprises using phosphatidylinositol and to a kit for use in the method.
