PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool capable of improving the property of travelling in a straight line and rigidity, of a guide mechanism, while suppressing weight increase and material increase of a slide.SOLUTION: The machine tool comprises: a slide 9 installed on a bed 1 through a guide mechanism 11, so as to be able to advance and retract; processing devices 3, 2 mounted on the slide 9, for supporting a tool T or a workpiece W; and an advancing and retracting drive mechanism 12 for driving the slide 9 so as to advance/retract. The guide mechanism 11 comprises: two guides 15, 16 installed on the bed 1 and extending in an X axis direction; and multiple guided components 17A, 17B, 18A, 18B, 19A, 19B provided at the slide 9 and being in contact with the two guides 15, 16, so as to be able to advance and retract. The guided components 18A, 18B being in contact with surfaces facing a Z axis direction, of the guide 15 near a processing point Q have the length longer than that of the guided components 19A, 19B being in contact with surfaces, of the guide 16 far from the processing point Q, along a plane parallel to X and Z axis directions. |
