PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor that improves strength, and reduces performance degradation, of a rotor core that is made up of laminated magnetic steel sheets and that increases the efficiency thereof by preventing eddy current and reducing iron loss with a simple configuration, and to provide a rotary electric machine having the same.SOLUTION: A rotor includes: a rotor core 11 that is made up of laminated magnetic steel sheets; permanent magnets 13a and 13b respectively inserted or press-fitted in a plurality of magnet holes 18a and 18b that are provided in the proximity of outer circumferential surfaces 15a and 15b of the rotor core 11 so as to be penetrated in a rotational axis direction x of the rotor core 11 and that are arranged approximately at regular intervals in a rotational circumferential direction of the rotor core 11; and a reinforcing plate 30 that is formed of non-magnetic material and that divides the outer circumferential surfaces 15a and 15b of the rotor core 11, the magnet holes 18a and 18b, and the permanent magnets 13a and 13b in the rotational axis direction x. The permanent magnets 13a and 13b are formed to have such large cross-sectional areas as to compensate for cross-sectional areas, in a rotational circumferential direction of the reinforcing plate 30, of the permanent magnets 13a and 13b as divided by the reinforcing plate 30. |
