The machine (1) has a cylinder drum (2) formed with a piston recess (3) in which a thruster piston (4) is rotatably arranged around a rotational axis (D). The machine sucks in a pressure medium through an inlet terminal (8) and conveys the sucked medium into an outlet port (9) when the drum is driven in a pumping operation. The machine is driven under pressure in an engine operation by the medium supplied through the terminal. A hydraulic pressing device (35) is pressed against a control surface (5) of the machine such that contact pressure is produced at the drum only in the engine operation. An independent claim is also included for a hydraulic drive system.
