The starter (1) has an electromagnetic switch (6) including a movable contact (20), which is selectively opened and closed in response to selective excitation and non-excitation of an exciter coil (14). A pinion (PN) is designed to engage with a toothed ring for transferring a rotational torque from a commutator motor (3) to the ring. A noise suppressor device (7) is designed with capacitors (C) and two terminals (T1, T2), which electrically connect the capacitors with a power line (LN) and a ground potential, respectively. The motor is supplied with power by the power line from a battery (2).
