The a scaffold-transition metal hydride ion composite for hydrogen storage comprises: a scaffold material (SM) comprising a functional group introduced on the surface thereof; a Lewis acid which is bound on the scaffold material through the functional group; and a transition metal hydride ion which is bound to the Lewis acid.</p>
