PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visual inspection device configured to always keep a constant distance between a camera and a surface to be tested.SOLUTION: A coating surface of a body-side surface part 1a is imaged, while relatively moving a vehicle 1 conveyed by a conveyer 2 and cameras 42, 32, and a surface defect on the coating surface is extracted by image processing. The defect is detected as poor appearance. A plurality of lighting units 29-31, the cameras 42, 32 and a ranging sensor 34 are mounted on a common rack 28 to be driven forward/backward by an electric actuator unit 35. The ranging sensor 34 detects a distance to the body-side surface part 1a, and the whole rack 28 is driven forward/backward in a vehicle width direction so that the distance from the cameras 42, 32 to the coating surface coincides with a prescribed distance. |
