PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition excellent in wet grip performance and rubber physical properties without deteriorating low heat build-up properties and workability and to provide a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION: There are provided a rubber composition obtained by blending 10 to 150 pts.mass of carbon black and/or an inorganic filler and 0.1 to 30 pts.mass of an oxide of a transition metal positioned in the group IX in the periodic table based on 100 pts.mass of a sulfur-crosslinkable diene-based rubber and a pneumatic tire using the same.
