<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device and a communication method, for communicating with a plurality of upper networks using different communication methods from each other, which can prevent setting conflict in LAN-side physical layer control in each setting method without newly providing a LAN port or a circuit for integration of setting signals.SOLUTION: A communication device of the present embodiment comprises: a PON control circuit 11 and a PON control circuit 12 which are provided correspondingly to respective upper networks; a physical layer control circuit 15 which communicates with each PON control circuit to control a physical layer in a hierarchy structure of a communication protocol and which is common to the plurality of PON control circuit; and a LAN port 17 which communicates with the physical layer control circuit 15 and which is common to the plurality of PON control circuits. Setting of the physical layer control is performed depending on from which upper network, the PON control circuit receives a signal.</p> |
