<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously detect foreground parts of an image while reducing the amount of a memory for use.SOLUTION: A foreground detection device includes: an image input unit which inputs time-series images; a variation computation unit which computes a variation representing a degree of variation of time-series pixel values, for each partial area of the images inputted by the image input unit; a foreground likelihood acquisition unit which acquires likelihood of a foreground representing a degree of likelihood of the foreground, for each partial area, according to the variation computed by the variation computation unit; and a foreground detection unit which detects foreground parts of the input images on the basis of degrees of likelihood of the foreground computed by the foreground likelihood acquisition unit. The foreground likelihood acquisition unit acquires the highest likelihood of the foreground if the variation exceeds a prescribed threshold, and acquires lower likelihood of the foreground in images farther, on time series, from an image where the variation exceeds the prescribed threshold.</p> |
