<p>In a method monitoring QoS of an Internet Protocol based communication service, a node (50) for controlling the Internet Protocol based communication service receives a request (301, 302) for initiating a session of the Internet Protocol based communication service. The node (50) sends a request (304) for authorizing the session to a policy controller (30). The node (50) also sends an indication to the policy controller (30) that quality of service monitoring is required for the session, e.g., as part of the request (304). The policy controller (30) determines a policy rule for identifying and controlling user plane traffic of the session and sends an indication (306) of the policy rule to a gateway node (40). The policy controller (30) also sends an indication to the gateway node (40) that quality of service monitoring is required for the identified user plane traffic, e.g., as part of the indication of the policy rule (306). The gateway node (40) monitors quality of service of the identified user plane traffic, generates a quality of service report indicating the monitored quality of service and sends the quality of service report to the policy controller (30). The policy controller(30) forwards the quality of service report to the node (50) for controlling the Internet Protocol based communication service.</p> |
