In an arrangement whereby a load 2 may be fed on failure of a rectifier 1 from a battery 3, the battery is charged through an additional rectifier 4, which is shunted, on failure of the main supply by a relay contact 11. To minimize delay in connecting the battery, the rectifier 4 is shunted initially by a silicon-controlled rectifier 5 fired by a capacitor 7 discharging through an impulse transformer 6.</p> |
